What Brides Want in Wedding Invitations: 7 Lessons From 347 Real Reviews
I run MCC Wedding Invitations in Mapleton, Utah. After more than ten years and over 300 five-star Google reviews, I sat down and read every one of them, all 347 that have written comments. I wanted to know what brides and their mothers actually care about. Here is what they told me, in order of how often they said it.
1. Speed matters more than anything else (57% of reviews)
More than half of all reviewers mention how fast their invitations were ready. About 1 in 9 were in a real rush: a wedding that came together quickly, a deadline sneaking up, or an online order that arrived wrong.
Lesson: Count backward from your mailing date and add a week of cushion. If you are already behind, local printing can save you.
2. Price comes up almost as often (43%)
Nearly half of reviewers talk about cost. A handful named the big online companies and said they came away surprised by the total.
Lesson: Add up the whole price before you commit, including design, envelopes, and shipping. Many online shops charge extra for each of those.
3. Paper quality is noticed (31%)
Almost a third of reviewers mention the paper or cardstock. Guests hold your invitation in their hands, and they notice.
Lesson: Ask for a sample or a proof of the actual paper, not just a picture on a screen.
4. Think about the whole wedding, not just the invitation (21%)
One in five reviewers also ordered welcome signs, table assignments, guest book signs, large photo prints, or thank-you cards.
Lesson: Plan these early and print them together so everything matches, and so you only do the ordering once.
5. Often it is Mom who is ordering (about 1 in 20 reviews)
Mothers of the bride write a real share of the reviews, and many come back for a second or third daughter.
Lesson: If you are helping with a wedding, decide early who handles the invitations so details do not get lost.
6. People want to see it before they commit
About 8% of reviewers mention samples or proofs, and 6% mention making changes until it felt right.
Lesson: Never approve a design you have only glanced at. Read every name, date and address out loud.
7. A real person to talk to makes it easier (23% name me personally)
Wedding planning is stressful, and 15% of reviewers mention fast replies. Several said simply having someone answer their questions took weight off.
Lesson: Before you order from anyone, send one question and see how fast and how kindly you hear back.
